WHAT IS CCACH

The Council of Canadians of African and Caribbean Heritage is a registered not-for-profit organization committed to the encouragement, facilitation, and the development of strong community support systems for the African Canadian Community.

CCACH has been in existence since 1985 and was previously known as the Council of Black Organizations (CBO). CCACH also promote understanding of the cultural heritage of individuals of African heritage from Africa, the Caribbean or the African Diaspora, and foster fellowship and goodwill between community members and the broader Edmonton community.

WHAT DOES CCACH DO

CCACH facilitates the dissemination of information on the cultural heritage of individuals with backgrounds and historical roots in the African continent, the Caribbean, and the African Diaspora. It provides forums for the discussion of matters affecting community members and the formulation of potential solutions. In addition, CCACH acts as a referral agent for people wanting information or support services.

CCACH places special emphasis on the nurturing and developing of African Canadian Youth. Its programs provide opportunities for youth to: socialize; learn about their cultural heritage; develop positive self-esteem and confidence; and acquire community-development and leadership skills.

CCACH exist in order to initiate, coordinate and facilitate programs, services and activities with the aim of enhancing a vibrant, vigilant, and dynamic African Canadian Community in the City of Edmonton.
